Living Hope Church began in September, 2000. Two families met in a living room and made a commitment to begin a church in the Alpena vicinity that made a difference.
From a gymnasium in a country elementary school, the church doubled its regular Sunday attendance to 21 in three months. By 2002 Living Hope realized the need to renovate and move to a vacant furniture store in the city. Despite considerable inconveniences, the members pressed forward and the church increased its attendance to 47 by year's end.
It quickly became evident that Living Hope needed more than 3,000 square feet to accommodate its continued growth. In 2004, Living Hope Church moved to Werth Road and was forced to move to 2 services as it reached 200 in attendance by 2007.
Living Hope's leadership recognized that additional space was needed in order to reach the city of Alpena for Jesus. In 2013, Living Hope Church purchased seven acres of land and were planning to build a new facility immediately. The BLBT campaign was postponed in the fall of 2014 when Pastor Tad Martin felt led to resign his position after 15 years of faithful service to Living Hope Church.
In May of 2015, Living Hope Church welcomed Pastor Lee Blanchard as their Lead Pastor. With a passion for the Alpena community, unity among believers and being the hands and feet of Jesus, Pastors Lee and Renee immediately dove in to partnering Living Hope with many of Alpena's community outreaches and ministries. In 2016, Living Hope made the faith decision to purchase a new building on M-32 W. Our new facility underwent massive renovations in 2017 and on December 17th, 2017 Living Hope celebrated our first Sunday in our new permanent facility! Following move in, phase two began to complete the Children's Worship Center and Foyer of the building. God is good!
It is the desire of Living Hope to be welcoming to every person who wishes to come hear about Jesus Christ and to reach those in our community through authenticity, a passion for Jesus and a love for people. Living Hope is excited to move forward in raising up generations of Christ-followers that are courageous and committed to doing whatever it takes to help ordinary people become passionate, devoted followers of Christ.
